Sixth-through 12th graders in the Clinton Public School District will receive MacBook Air laptops this fall as part of the district’s 1:1 Digital Learning Initiative. They will also get a large, padded backpack to protect their new device, binders and other supplies. Teachers received new MacBook Pro laptops in the 2012-13 school year.
The bags and laptops will have to be returned at the end of the school year, so students have to keep the bag’s ID tag attached to it. Students are encouraged to add non-permanent accessories because all backpacks look the same. The backpacks are very durable and have a lifetime warranty, district officials said. The district is planning a series of mandatory “Meet your Mac” meeting days in July for parents and students with more information about the new technology initiative. Dates and times will be announced later in the summer, but for more information, visit the 1:1 pages on http://www.clintonpublicschools.com.
